In Jyotish, transit is generally considered from natal Moon (Chandra Rashi, aka Janma Raas). The conventional good and bad transit placements are in fact ashtakavarga points of planets with respect to Moon. Some practitioners prefer to judge transit from natal Ascendant (Janma Lagna). While analyzing transit from natal Ascendant, they (mistakenly) apply good and bad transit placement that are attributed to natal Moon. According to ashtakavarga concept, transit from Moon and transit from Ascendant do not necessarily yield identical results. Both are different reference points.
Following are the transit results and delineations of 7 planets with respect to natal Ascendant and natal Moon. Whole-sign house system is considered in both cases. They predictive results are culled from classical Jyotish text, Yavana Jataka. The good/bad transit placements are slightly different from Varaha Mihira especially for Mercury. There is one-point placement difference for Sun, Mars and Venus. Furthermore, Parashara and Varaha Mihira are also not on the same page of ashtakavarga.
Given results may appear fatalistic and grave. Take them as meaningful ‘keywords’ and judiciously apply in the context of age, status and country of native. Some keywords should modernize; for instance, authority or boss instead of king (raja); valuable things instead of gold (swarna) or quadruped (chatuspada); and subordinates instead of slave (daasa). The keyword “death” should better avoid, and “destruction” may consider as “trouble”, unless running dasa-bhukti does not clearly indicate so. Commonly, transit results do not supersede directional (dasa) results. Analyze transit along with dasa in order to get more dependable and precise forecasts.
